In case you missed the indoctrination...

"Thinking about my kids in school having to listen to that just really upsets me," suburban Colorado mother Shanneen Barron told CNN Denver affiliate KMGH last week, before the text of the speech was released. "I'm an American. They are Americans, and I don't feel that's OK. I feel very scared to be in this country with our leadership right now." (via CNN.com)

Oh, brother...

I also don't understand Barron's foolish objections: his message seemed balanced and a direct diversion away from the bullshit entitled behavior that was bred into the current and past generations. I liked how he talked that different backgrounds, diversity, finances...none of them were an excuse for being a jerk, acting irrationally, being lazy....and dammit, it's about time kids HEARD that....

I pray the US doesn't get exposed to absolute asses like Barron....

I thought the speech was impeccable and much needed wake up call to all, not just the children

Well now Shanneen knows how the rest of us felt for 8 years while Bush was in office.

I linked to this speech on facebook, and one of my former students who's all grown up now blasted liberals for the lesson plans Obama's staff included. Such horrible statements like "how can we help the president?" They're grasping at straws. Does it seem like racism to you? It does to me. The subterranean kind, the stuff that lurks beneath the surface.
