Celebrating Marquez and Whitman

I'll be taking part in this event called "100 Readers of Solitude." One hundred Atlanta-area readers who love the work of celebrated writer and Nobel Prize laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez will gather on Sunday afternoon, May 18, at 1 p.m. at Kavarna coffee house, 707 E. Lake Drive, Decatur (venue change due to rain forecast) to honor the author of One Hundreds Years of Solitude and other internationally acclaimed works. Marquez died on April 17. Those who wish to read on Sunday may sign up and request a preferred time by emailing charles@pastemagazine.com.

I'll also be reading from Walt Whitman's Song of Myself during this special event on May 31 at Java Monkey in Decatur. I was involved with the last "non-stop Whitman" reading a few years ago and it was so much fun.
